Editor Sound Switch
techno
Need help with understanding sound switching.
I have never used it and don't fully understand the PteroEngine Help.

I want to have sounds in a map that you don't hear unless you walk passed that point
and i think sound switch will do this but need more understanding of how it works & how to use it.
plus I would like to use custom sounds.

[I think custom sounds might work as decribed in the other post about custom sounds]

Plus the help show's extra option that my editor doesn't show
I am using editor_extra.exe

The editor help show's 5 options in the SndSwitch properties
but my properties show's 4 options after I put fields in Env1: & Env2:
in the Scene sounds areas properties of Env1: & Env2:

I think a tutorial on this to explain might be needed as there are a few setting fields that need settings.

Cheers

sound switches work only for ambient music or soundcurves, not for events.
so SC_SND_Ambient_Play(6058);
or SC_SND_CreateCurveSound("Levels\\happyvalley\\snd\\curve\\bigriver.anm",2537,100.0f, TRUE);
in sound.c
you have to create an animationcurve in the editor for a soundcurve of course

then you can put soundswitches in the beginning of a tunnel to turn down the ambientsound/rainsound.
I only used it that way (you can check it in niogianh if you want to see it)
didnt try it the other way around, but you might use a soundswitch to turn the ambientsoundvolume higher.

good luck

btw, check if you can hear the sound in both fistalpha and normal vietcong,
for niogianh i had to add some riversounds from fistalpha in the map package.

Have a look on the "Intruder's mapping" section I created here; it may help you in some way...
And the direct access to the "sound switch" part is here... Wink

i also used editor_extra, there were some extra functions enabled against standart editor, but now i have dev_editor, it is better :-D
